I recently visited my doctor for advice before going on the oral contraceptive pill. She suggested I test my levels of progesterone and proto-lactin to see if the levels were ok for use of the pill. My proto lactin came out as 13.7 which she said was ok, but my progesterone was 3.1 which she said was too low and thus using the pill may further lower my fertility. Am I infertile? | ||

Low progesterone levels could mean that you are not ovulating and so you could experience infertility. Low progesterone could also lead to miscarriage if you are ovulating. Progesterone helps to maintain pregnancy so you want to make sure your levels are normal, approximately 20 mgs per day from ovulation until the start of your period. There is a simple to fix.
